Happy Birthday Nicki and an adorable card from The Cutting Cafe'!!!!

Happy Friday everyone! Today is my oldest daughter's birthday! Happy Birthday Nicki! I love you so much and we're so proud of the beautiful woman you've turned out to be! Hope you have the best birthday ever!! I fell in love with this adorable image of Cinderella by Mo Manning when I first saw her on Pam's blog, and had to immediately purchase her! Nicki is such a hard little worker, and I just thought it would be too cute to make a birthday card for her with Cinderella! I even cased the sentiment from Pam too! Thanks Pam!! :) She's colored with my copic markers. The tag, scalloped circle set, and scalloped frame for the stamped image were all cut with the Cricut Expression using the Storybook cartridge and Tage, Bags, Boxes, and more cartridge. The inside says "may all your birthday dreams and wishes come true".

This next adorable card is a new mitten shaped card that is available at The Cutting Cafe'. I just think this is the cutest mitten card ever!! And it even comes with an envelope template that is the perfect size for the card! I used Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses which I got from Hallmark Scrapbook, and cut the card with my Pazzle Inspiration. The word circle is also from The Cutting Cafe' from a set called Christmas Circle Set 2. I just cut it out using circle Nestabilities. The snowflake on the inside was cut from the Winter Woodland cartridge.

That's it for today ladies! Hope you've enjoyed the cards and have a wonderful Friday! HUGS!!

How to Mix CZ Jewelry and Texture

Sometimes it can be hard to figure out which fabrics and textures go with what. With so many fashion and accessory options, it can be a hit or miss. But this season, there seems to be a lot of focus on CZ jewelry. Not only is Cubic Zirconia a lot less budget friendly, it allows you the freedom to wear over-the-top and glammed up pieces that are fun and free-spirited.

With the rise of the statement necklace, bold bangles bracelets and oversize earrings, Cubic Zirconia gemstones are anything buy low-key. Instead, they are powerful pieces that can elevate your mood and your style as they create conversation and evoke “oohs” and “aahs” from your girlfriends. If you do plan on wearing some of these maximum impact accessories, plan on pairing them with items from your wardrobe that compliment, and don’t compete with their glam and glitz.
Lizard Cocktail CZ Ring
Cubic Zirconia set in metal can look very heavy. A good way to balance this is with fabrics that are soft and feminine, like silk, satin and chiffon. Lightweight blouses paired with heavy jewelry play well together and create the perfect contrast. On the other hand, if you are plan on wearing heavy sweaters or tunics, go for Cubic Zirconia that is delicate and feminine. Add a cocktail ring, a great pair of chandelier earrings or a long pendant necklace.

Some CZ jewelry utilizes texture as part of the design. Nature inspired pieces with earthy elements like leaves and delicate branches are a huge hit this season. Hammered metal also helps to create something a little unexpected. Paired with rhinestones, this is the perfect Cubic Zirconia jewelry combination for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. If you already have pieces in your jewelry box that you love, then try mixing and matching those with some of these modern Cubic Zirconia baubles to show your personal sense of style.

One last Halloween card to post and GDT for Whimsical Scraps and Bugs

I'm very pleased to announce that I was invited to play along with two challenges this month over at Whimiscal Scraps and Bugs as a guest design team member. I had a great time and wanted to thank Cindy for inviting me to play along with the two challenges!! The first challenge was a recipe challenge. It was to use three colors (orange, purple, and black), two stars from any Cricut cartridge, and one stamped image. I used #294 Tilda with Spider (LOVE her!!) which I received from Magnolia-licious.

Most of the paper is Recollections from Michael's, and the cardstock is Bazzil. Tilda is colored with copics on an oval cut with Nestabilities. The stars were cut from the George cartridge and the loopy border punch is by Martha Stewart. Added a few buttons to balance out the design and this one was finished! Thanks a lot for stopping by to see me today and hope to see you back again soon! HUGS!

What's Hot Right Now: Pearl and CZ Jewelry

This year, style setters like Sandra Bullock and Michelle Obama have been spotted in beautiful bold necklaces in combinations of colored pearls and rhinestones. College aged girls are pairing traditional pearl necklaces with edgier pieces that sparkle and shine. Working women are incorporating bodacious baubles like pearl and rhinestone broaches when choosing their daily look. However they're worn, these eclectic and fun combinations are budget friendly and fashion forward. So we salute this rise of CZ jewelry and anxiously anticipate what's next.CZ jewelryWhat woman doesn't want to look her at best? CZ jewelry, paired with pearls is a perfect combination for creating a pulled together, yet fun look. Traditionally, pearl jewelry has been thought of as proper and prim, even boring. But when you pair pearls with CZ jewelry, suddenly, there's a different spin on a classic favorite.

There's really no wrong way to wear this look. If you have pearls in your jewelry box that you've inherited from your mother or grandmother, consider updating them by mixing with CZ jewelry. Look for pieces set in oxidized silver with black or clear rhinestones. You can try layering necklaces or bracelets to create a unique combination. Play around with different wardrobe options as well. You might find that you like wearing this combo to the office, or maybe it's better for dressing up a t-shirt.

Pearls and Cubic Zirconia jewelry have an aura of retro, but they also look a little rock and roll. Don't be afraid to try small touches of each, if you're not sure of how the style would work on you. On the other hand, if you're ready to dive head first into this one, then try incorporating different textures as well. CZ jewelry comes in all forms and settings – everything from metal to ribbon can be used to create an interesting and fashion forward design.

Welcome to another Bitten By The Bug Blog Hop! Hope you've been enjoying your hop along the path so far! If you've arrived here via the fabulously talented Shelly, then you're on the right track. This week, Regina challenged us to use the pointed tag from Stretch Your Imagination. I have never used this tag, and that's just another reason why I totally love these challenges! I am crazy about the way this tag looks and can not wait to hang it off a gift bag!!

I used this adorable stamped image from Belles and Whistles thanks to my friend. (she knows who she is and thank you again!!) And I have fallen in love with this stamp! I colored her with Copic markers and the papers are from Recollections from Michael's. The bat is from Magnolia-licious, and added a button with a little bow up and a cute jack-o-lantern charm by the hanging cord.

Now for the fun stuff, leave me a comment on this post by midnight Friday night, and I'll pull a name via random.org to win some blog candy. This consists of a fun set from Rob & Bob, a bag of flowers, some eyelets, a book of tags, and some metallic rub-ons.

Is CZ Jewelry Appropriate for the Office

Any woman who has ever watched the flick Working Girl knows that the rules for dressing for the office have come a long way since the 80s. Women are now allowed to have much more freedom when dressing for business and business casual environment. Even so, those terms are loosely defined. While there are some items that are definitely a "no-no" when you're at your 9 to 5 job (i.e. sweat pants or shorts), others are considered borderline. For example, is it okay to wear CZ jewelry to the office? We examine this new trend.

Cubic Zirconia was typically thought of for special events like a wedding, a prom or a black-tie dinner, but fashion has become a lot more liberal, and so have the rules for wearing these type of accessories. Sure, CZ jewelry is sparkly, flashy and noticeable, but that doesn't mean that you can't still work it into your wardrobe for work. Here's how:

With jeans – Most offices have a casual Friday, so take advantage and present yourself in a way that is comfortable yet still pulled together. For example, try a great fitting pair of jeans with a t-shirt and boyfriend blazer. To top off the look, add Cubic Zirconia jewelry in the form of a great cuff or a broach.

With a sheath or suit – For office environments where you're expected to look polished and prim all the time, consider having a little fun with your look. Cubic Zirconia jewelry can be just the ticket for adding some interest and edge. Try a great statement necklace, a fun cocktail ring or CZ bracelets in a bold color.CZ braceletFor everyday wear – If you can't afford a great pair of diamond studs, consider CZ jewelry as an alternative. You can pick up great classic pieces that you'll ready get your wear out of. Plus, when you buy Cubic Zirconia jewelry to wear day in and day out, you won't feel guilty.

I'm starting on my Christmas cards!

Happy Saturday! I am finally starting to work on my Christmas cards. Pretty soon, I will be working hard and heavy to try and get them all done so I don't have to stress about it. I always start out with such good intentions, and always end up short of my goal. Maybe this year will be different. We'll see. For this card, I used a new stamp set from The Cutting Cafe' called Christmas Long Borders. If you haven't checked out Regina's digi stamps, please do yourself a favor and go have a peek. She's got some really amazing Christmas sets available right now!

This gorgeous little girl is Noelle Bearing Gifts from Digital Penil Too, and she's colored with Copics. Is she not just gorgeous?? I just adore her Christmas coat and she has the most beautiful face. I placed her on a mat that was trimmed with a Martha Stewart border punch that my wonderful friend Jacque sent me! Thanks again Jacque! The DP is from an old, old, old stack and the cardstock is Bazzil. The images are printed on cryogen white. OH! Almost forgot to say that the snowflakes are cut with the Cricut Expression and Winter Woodland cartridge available for a wonderful price at Hallmark Scrapbook.
That's it for today. The kids went to the Pumpkin Patch today, so tomorrow we will be busy carving faces in them! Hope you're enjoying your weekend! Thanks for stopping by to see me and hope to see you back again soon! HUGS!

Clean and Simple - A new Magnolia-licious blog hop!

Happy Friday everyone, and welcome to a CLEAN AND SIMPLE Magnolia-licious blog hop! If you've arrived here from the blog of the fabulously talented Cheryl Rowley (she's my coloring hero), then you're on the right track. I've been seeing this term "clean and simple" on quite a few blogs lately, so Kerry , (this chickie is amazingly talented. You've GOT to check out her work!!)challenged us to come up with our own Clean and Simple card with a Magnolia-licious stamp. Thanks for the challenge, Kerry! Actually, it was a fairly easy challenge because the Magnolia stamps are so beautiful, that they can stand on their own so easily, don't you think? I just had to use the new Peachy Tilda (#389) I received from Magnolia-licious.
The papers I used were from my scrap bin, and I added nothing but a simple double mat under the stamped image, and a scrap of ribbon. I will say that I had to down size my card. I do not think a single stamped image would look very good on a 6" square card, so I used a standard A2. So that's it for this card. Now for the fun stuff. Leave me a comment on this post before midnight next Friday (Oct 30th), and I will randomly draw one winner. What will you win, you ask???? (insert evil little grin here). Well it will be a surprise! GASP! You won't know what you're getting until you get it. But if you like Magnolia stamps, then I think you'll like the prize. *smiles*
Once you've left your comment for the blog candy, be sure and hop on to the very talented Suzanne's blog! I'm sure she's got an awesome card to show you with her clean and simple technique! She's the last stop along the trail. Once you're done with the hop, be sure and pop over to Magnolia-licious Highlites where you will see a challenge issued to you for your own clean and simple card, and there will a prize from Diana!
Thanks for stopping by to see me today, and hope to see you back again soon! HUGS and have a fabulous weekend!!

A Corny Kind of Love - Papertake Weekly

Happy Tuesday! We made it through Monday and now it's time for a fun new challenge from Papertake Weekly! This week is a sketch challenge by the fabulously talented Dawny, and it's sponsored by the wonderful Toodles and Binks! And what a fun sketch it is, too!! I loved playing with it! I made another Halloween card with a cute, cute image from Fresh Brewed Designs. I just fell in love with the candy corn bat! Isn't it the cutest?? It's colored with Copic markers. And then of course I got the absolute perfect sentiment from The Cutting Cafe'!! That fun, stripey ribbon was sent to me from my wonderful friend Regina.

I cut the scalloped circle with my Cricut Expression using the Mini Monograms cartridge and added a strip of drippy goo from a Martha Stewart border punch. The top DP is from Imaginations and the circle paper is by Best Creation Inc. The glittery paper is from a stack of DCWV papers.

Please be sure and pop over to Papertake Weekly and check out the rest of the fabulous creations, and then grab your paper and glue and join in on the fun! You could win a fabulous prize from Toodles & Binks! Thanks for stopping by to see me today and hope to see you back again soon! HUGS!

The Perfect Pair of Holiday Earrings

Cool weather brings thoughts of warm fuzzy sweaters, evenings by the fire, hot cocoa, and of course, holiday parties. Every year women attend an average of 3 holiday parties, where they get glammed up and adorn themselves with sparkly accessories. This year, when you're getting dressed for an event, whether it's a neighborhood party, a work get-together or a friendly gift exchange, instead of spending a lot on a new outfit, put out a tried and true favorite and compliment it with the perfect pair of earrings. Here are our tips for getting through this holiday season in style and on a budget:
Clip on earrings
Consider clip on earrings – Clip earrings can typically be a lot cheaper than their pierced counterparts. And anyone can wear them. The best part is that some designs can be very heavy, and clip earrings are really the best choice, as they don't weigh down your earlobes. Black rhinestones are hot this year, while yellow gold is a tried and true favorite.

Clusters are hot – If you're not the statement necklace type of girl, you'll be happy to know that statement earrings are big (literally!). Clusters of rhinestones, chandelier drop or overlay clip earrings are your best bet for adding interest and keeping the attention focused above your collarbone.

Season specific – Take advantage of the sights and sounds of the season with pierced or clip on earrings that are inspired from the elements of nature and the holidays. Acorns, feathers and leaves remind you of fall, while snowflakes and bows are great for winter. With new modern designs, these classics are re-born and can be a token accessory for seasons to come.

Colored stones – Jewel tones and rich colors are great this time of the year. In the form of earrings, they are great for adding a burst of color to a monotone outfit. And don't be afraid to step out of the box and ditch classic ruby and emerald, in favor of amethyst, midnight blue or golden yellow. Look for Cubic Zirconia as a safe bet for quality pieces that don't cost a lot. In clip earrings or pierced, you'll find a variety of options from which to choose.

BBTB challenge - sign from Noel Solutions cart

Sure hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I know I sure did, but they go by way too quickly! They always do. But the fun part of Sunday nights is that it's time to reveal a new challenge for Bitten By The Bug. This week, Regina asked us to use this awesome sign from the Christmas Solutions cartridge. I cut it out in shadow with a dark brown and then the regular cut in this chocolate brown. I cut the sign again about an inch smaller and cut out the actual sign part, and ran it through my computer with a digi stamp from The Cutting Cafe'. I popped it up for dimension off of some fabulous Basic Grey paper and added a punched border from a Martha Stewart punch. Added a gingham bow and a couple of silver brads, and this one was done!

Please be sure and visit Bitten By The Bug to see what the other designers came up with for this sign. I haven't seen them yet, cause Regina keeps them a secret from everyone until posting. But I have no doubt you're in for some real eye candy! Thanks for stopping by to see me today, and hope to see you back again soon!! HUGS!

October DT challenge for Magnolia-licious

Each month, the Magnolia-licious Design Team takes turns issuing challenges. This month is was Suzanne's turn. She decided instead of doing a sketch, she would challenge us to make an easel card. I must say....this was a really hard challenge for me. Not the easel card itself, cause I really love this and will make more. But the twist to the challenge threw me for a loop! The twist is to make it monochromatic. I struggled so much with this card. I honestly have been working on it for almost three weeks now. I would pick it up, and put it down, and keep repeating that process. I finally just decided tonight to bite my lip and finish it. I'm still not really sure about it.......

I used # 388 Dinner Tilda from the A Little Yummy For Your Tummy collection available at Magnolia-licious. She is colored with Copic markers. All of the stamps in this collection are adorable! If you haven't seen them yet, be sure and rush over to Magnolia-licious! While you're there, join the Yahoo Group to get even better prices. Diana gives her Yahoo group extra discounts and goodies!
The card base is Bazzil and the DP are all digi from Wild Rose Studio. The stars were cut with my Cricut Expression with the George cartridge, and the flourishes are from the new Sweethearts cartridge. The flourishes are also covered with diamond stickles. I really love the way this card sets up for viewing. Please visit the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog to see the fabulous creations from the rest of the Design Team, and to see the directions on how to build this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today, and I hope to see you back again soon! HUGS !
